Berkswell Choir

The Church Choir numbers about twenty people, comprising youngsters still at Primary School, adolescents and a significant number of adult members. They sing at the 10am service weekly and practice after this service. They are always looking for more men - which Church Choir isn't? - but this doesn't stop them from making significant quality contributions to both the weekly services and the special festivals. They have sung plenty of new compositions, especially a home-made  Easter   cantata  by  the  Director of  Music and Canon  Barbara   Baisley entitled 'Who is this man?' which is still available on cassette. They have also raised thousands of pounds over the years for many charities with their annual Sponsored Sing and Carol Singing around the local hostelries.

Wendy, the choir secretary writes:

SINGERS WANTED! PLEASE!

Berkswell Church choir leads the singing in the Sunday Morning services at St Johns’. We currently boast an impressive 21 members, but are desperately lacking in the tenor and bass departments.

During the year we provide a strong lead in special services such as Passion Sunday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday, Harvest Festival, Advent Sunday, and of course, all the Christmas worship, including a special carol service. We also take an active part in as many weddings as possible!

But it’s not all work, work, work! Or should that be sing, sing, sing! We have an active social life which last year included a trip to Alton Towers and this year includes a trip to Drayton Manor Park and Zoo, and also to Kenilworth Castle to see the Fireworks Display (then back to someone’s house for food!)
